Holiness is Separation From The World
Holiness is Separation from the world and not a list of do’s and don’ts.“Come out from among them
And be separate, says The Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.
I will be a Father to you
And you shall be my sons and daughers,
Says The Lord Almighty.”
(2 Corinthians 7:17-18)
Separate:to set apart; disconnect; dissociate
disassociate:to sever the association of (oneself); separate
disconnect:to sever or interrupt the connection of or between; detach
“Adulterers and adulteresses!
Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” (James 4:4)
Believers and professed believers of Jesus Christ. Do you think this is a spiritual game we are playing with The Lord of Glory? Really, we play dress up and go to “church.”
Holiness is no less than Separation from the world.
Our Lord Jesus said,
“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not
worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it."
(Matthew 10:37-39)
This is some hard teaching. Which could also be said, He who loves this culture more than Me is not worthy of Me. He who loves television more than Me, is not worthy of Me. He who loves religion more than Me, is not worthy of Me.
Some believers and professed believers cling so hard to this world, to it’s ways, to materialism, to all of the modern conveniences of this present age. I am not suggesting that we not have plumbing, but come on, upgrading cell phones and houses, and cars?
God cares nothing of the trinkets of this age. When the Holy Spirit prays it is about eternal things. He would never ask for a bigger house, or a bigger car. He is Passionate, and He leads us into amazing worship. He always wants to intercede for the lost. He is enmeshed with our soul so deeply. He doesn’t care for television. It doesn’t matter how “clean” the show is, The Holy Spirit does not care about television.
What we fail to understand is that The Spirit has been here for thousands of years, and the believers of the past did not have television, film, or any of the things this culture boasts about. We boast, in our pride and wag our tongues, shake our heads, how advanced we are. We have fallen for mere trinkets, for emptiness, and a superficial joy ride with the world. But someday, the party will be over, the temporal roller coaster will be over. Then we can ask ourselves?
Did I really know him?
I have been to “churches” and they are so irreverant to God. Believers should be more undignified than they are in worship. You would not even see many “churches” cry out with a loud holy voice to God to have mercy, and to come and be with us. Instead, the faces are solemn, bored, and they sit back waiting to be entertained by the pastor. We were not saved to be entertained. We were saved by The Grace of God, to worship Him, to adore Him, to pray and make intercession for the lost, for other believers, to minister to people, and other believers, to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but make no mistake we were not saved to sit on our backsides, and be entertained.
We were saved to intimately know him. We were not saved to go to “church” an hour a week, or go to a bible study at our leisure. We were saved to intercede, and to labour in the field.
It galls me to see so-called ministers who watch reality shows. It is obvious these are the “hirelings” The Lord speaks of in His Word in John 10. They are hirelings and do not care about the sheep. They allow every ravenous wolf into the fold.
We are presumptious to think we are saved, just because we know some scripture. The Pharisees knew The Scriptures, and yet Our Lord said they were damned to hell. Do we think because we go to “church”, do some work in the “church”, that we are saved? Or, because we know what to say, because we know the way Christians talk.
Our Lord, will say, "Not everyone who says to Me Lord, Lord, will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he does the Will of My Father who is in Heaven.
Many of you will say to Me in that day, “Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your Name, cast out demons in Your Name, and done many wonders in Your Name?”
And I will declare to them, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.”
(Matthew 7:21-23)
