חֶבְרוֹןמַמְרֵא STRENGTH & FELLOWSHIP
Genesis 13:14 And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him,
From the very beginning of scripture we can see that God expects there to be a division between what belongs to him and that which belongs to the world. As children of God we need to learn from the examples set before us. God set distinction between good and evil and clean and unclean. Adam was told of what trees he could eat of and what tree he could not. Noah brought 7 times more of the clean animals than the unclean. Abraham was called to leave his land and his people and as we read here God did not make promises about the land until Abraham separated finally from his nephew Lot.
God has always demanded separation from the world. Paul writes in 2 Cor. 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
2 Cor. 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
2 Cor. 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
2 Cor. 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
2 Cor. 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
2 Cor. 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Deut. 22:10 Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together. The reason you were not to plow with an ox and a donkey togather is because a ox is clean and a donkey is not clean . We see that God waited on Abraham to remove himself from his entire people before he would reveal the promise of the land.
Gen. 13:14 And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
Gen. 13:15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
Gen. 13:16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
Gen. 13:17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.
Gen. 13:18 Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord. Mamre = "strength" or "fatness"and Hebron = "association" Strength & Fellowship this is where Abraham dwelt after he separated from Lot amazing!
